2 Corinthians 1:20-22No matter how many promises God has made, they are “yes” in Christ so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. (NIV).
Explain the Scripture.
Paul reminded the Corinthians of God’s faithfulness. There was no duplicity in God. His promises would be fulfilled. There would be no wavering between “yes” and “no” in Jesus Christ, all of God’s promises have been fulfilled. Jesus is the embodiment of God’s fulfilled promises and faithfulness. Because Jesus Christ is faithful, He is faithful to the promises of God. Paul also mentioned two gifts God gives when we become believers; (1) A seal of ownership to show who our Master is, and (2) the Holy Spirit, who guarantees that we belong to Him and will receive all His benefits.
Explain how you will use the Scripture to lead someone to salvation.
Christ is the sure promised salvation for all mankind!
To all who seeks salvation, you don’t wait till after physical death! No? God has promised salvation to all mankind and that promised salvation is genuine. You don’t work for that salvation! You don’t pay for that salvation – No! God paid your way out of sin, Satan and hell. It’s through the death of Jesus Christ that God would again see His offspring. It’s a sure promised salvation for all mankind.
Christ is the promised seal of ownership.
In repentance and salvation God does two things: the first is that He (God) seals the converted sinner with a seal of ownership. The Scripture tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:19b-20, “You are not your own; you are bought at a prize”. Salvation of a soul is a guarantee that the sinner is truly saved from sin and hell, whilst the seal of ownership is to show who the Owner and the Master is!
Christ is the promised guarantee of what is to come.
The second thing that God does is that – He gives the converted sinner the Holy Spirit who guarantees that the converted sinner belongs to Him and will without doubt receive all his benefits (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Blessed Holy Spirit guarantees that salvation is ours now, and that we will receive so much more when Christ returns.
